Cerebral palsy sufferer secures compensation

A boy who suffers from cerebral palsy allegedly as a result of complications during his delivery has been awarded a payout which is likely to run into millions of pounds.
It is claimed that Ben Nutbrown was left with the condition, which affects the brain and the nervous system, after sustaining neurological injuries when he was born at New Cross Hospital.
He is wheelchair-bound and requires 24-hour care, the Express and Star reports.
During a recent hearing, lawyers acting on behalf of the youngster accepted the compensation offered by the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Hospitals Trust.
However, the trust did not admit liability in the case.
"It is a huge misfortune that Benjamin suffered the injuries he has, but I hope this settlement will assist in helping him make the most of things. It is clear that he is a very bright young man and he has got huge potential," stated Mr Justice Lloyd Jones.
The amount awarded to Ben has not been revealed but it will cover the cost of his care for the rest of his life.
